Ocen French Toast
Hollie Adamson
I use this recipe when we have overnight guests. It's simple to prepare and since it's made the night before, all I have to do the next morning is pop it in the oven.
1 lb. French bread, sliced into 1-inch thick pieces
1 C. milk
4 eggs, beaten
1/2 C. butter
2/3 C. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. vanilla
1. Grease a 9X13-inch pan.
2. Stir egg and milk mixture in large bowl until smooth. Soak the bread in the mixture for 30 minutes.
3. Place the butter, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla in a pan and melt on stovetop over low heat. Pour mixture into greased 9X13-inch pan.
4. Place soaked bread in dish. Pieces can be squished together. Cover dish and refrigerate overnight. * 5. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
*If you have too much bread for the pan, place some of the butter mixture into another greased pan and place the extra bread pieces on top.
